About Us

 Welcome to Rocket Lads!

Rocket Lads was founded with the goal of pushing the boundaries of amateur rocket propulsion. With new space companies shattering records and making history, we thought it was about time amateurs started breaking records of their own. We hope to build one of amateur rocketry's first pump fed, liquid bi-propellant rocket engines. It's not going to be easy and it's going to require years of work, and we want to share every part of the journey with our community. This blog will contain project updates, notes, sketches, conversations, random McMaster links, and everything in between in hopes of recording one of the coolest projects we've ever set out to complete.

Rocket Lads was founded by 3 students, all sharing the same passion for rocketry:

Zach Muckler

Hello everyone! My name is Zach, an aerospace engineering major and a rocket enthusiast. Like the other creators of this page, I have spent most of my time making rockets- flying high power rockets, experimenting with cold gas thrusters, and testing hybrid and liquid bi-propellant rocket engines. I also love to rock climb and read science fiction. I hope to one day set foot on another planet.

Dylan Romig

Hello, my name is Dylan and I'm a mechanical engineering student at Drexel University. Rocket propulsion is just one of my many hobbies and passions. When I'm not designing, machining and testing rocket engines I spend my time building model steam engines and locomotives. Some other things I do include high power rocketry, machining, welding, and the occasional electrical and programming project. I enjoy railroad and industrial history, watching soccer and trying to learn as many shop skills as possible.

Ryan Pappano

Hello! My name is Ryan, I’m currently a senior in Highschool but hope to study Aerospace engineering in the fall. I am an aspiring rocket propulsion engineer and over the past 4 years have been developing a bipropellant 2.2kN liquid-fueled rocket engine. I finally test-fired it this past summer and learned a lot. I hope one day space travel is as easy as airline travel with large spaceports orbiting planets. I enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, and playing tennis when I’m not working on the rocket.

We hope you'll find this site as exciting as we will and again, welcome to Rocket Lads!
